Attending the IEEE National Workshop on Big Data 2019 has been really amazing. I’ve been able to network with some wonderful people – like-minded and in the same stage of life. The speakers have been inspiring, engaging, enlightening, eye-opening, amazing!

Dr. Faisal Kamran talk “Rock Start to Big Data” talked about how some people will under-commit and stand on the sidelines. Others will over-commit. My takeaway from his talk was emphasizing on VALUE. A data scientist must provide value for their client or company. That is the reason a data scientist exists!
He talked about a full stack data scientist and a “Unicorn data scientist”. Wow — the unicorn data scientist is the intersection of computer science, math and statistics, and subject matter. Can you be that unicorn? Can I?
Or should I say “How can I become…”
I’m going to get ready for day 2. I will write more about the other great speakers.
